  • Who Made State? (Girls) HERE. Brushay Wandick (Bakersfield 12) made state in the 100, 200 and both
    relays. Frontier's Taylor Jackson (11) was the only other female track athlete to make state. Though the favorite in
    both hurdles, she only made it in the 300. In the field events Kern County had more success: Amanda Klinchuch
    (Liberty 12) made it the pole vault, Shanesha Epps (Golden Valley) in the long jump. Anna Jelmini (Shafter) and
    Alex Collatz (Stockdale) made it in throws and Lacie Rasley (Shafter) made it in the shot as well.
  • Who Made State? (Boys) HERE. On from the track, Stockdale's Nathan Alada made it in the 200, Isiah
    Purvis (Ridgeview) in the 400 & 4 x 400, Jerrid Lewis (Ridgeview) in the 800, Chris Schwartz in the 1600 & 3200,
    and Centenial and Ridgeview in the 4 x 400. In the field events, George Robbins (West) and Phillip McCullum
    Made it in the high jump, Marty Affentranger (Liberty) in the long jump, Johnny Carter (Ridgeview) in the triple jump
    and Matt Darr (Frontier) in the throws.
  • Buchanan boys feel right at home HERE. The Bears win Valley titles in Track and Cross Country in the
    same school year.

  • She Will Have Company (Girls 4 x 100) HERE. After being the only Lady Driller to make state in 2008.
    Wandick gets to make group travel plans this year.

Facility: Veterans Memorial Stadium (8500 seating) is a nine-lane Mondo Super X track. Shot put will be contested
inside the stadium, with discus being contested on the upper varsity practice field. Our venue will also host the 2009,
2010 and 2011 State Championships.

Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top six places in each event. First and second place team trophies will also be
awarded. You may pick up your medals at the conclusion of the meet at the finish line area.

Qualifying: Top four marks for each Area (North, Central, and South) meet and three from the Sierra Sequoia
automatically qualify them for the meet. The next three marks combined for all Areas and the Sierra Sequoia will make
up the field of 18 total qualifiers. Three alternates will be listed for every event.
