Quite a few Bakersfield schools attended this low key event. I remember seeing
Ridgeview, Liberty, South, Centennial, North and Bakersfield. The course was slightly
different and this lead to some confusion in the girl's race.

For some bizarre reason, they changed  the course slightly which made the top girls
go the wrong way. Candace Carson of North was leading but she and the Ridgeview
girl went the wrong way and a Sunnyside runner won the race. In second, was a
Liberty runner (Ashley Barton), who is also the starting setter on her school's volley
ball team.

The Ridgeview girls won and the Ridgeview boys came in second lead by Robby
Baker. The boys race was won wire to wire by a Hoover runner.

The top Bakersfield girl was Liberty's Ashley Barton (2nd) and the top boy was Robby
Baker (4th) of Ridgeview.

this meet is on the valley/state 5k course. We haven't been to this meet before but this
year we will be taking our varsity squads to get a benchmark on their fitness.
